Overview of the College
S.K Rai College of Arts, Science and commerce is the realization of the ideology of Shri. Sivanand K. Rai, the founder of Rai’s Education Society and the chairperson of the college. The college was established in 2000 and managed by the Rai’s Education Society established in 1993.
The college has well equipped Physics Biology and Chemistry labs with latest equipments and a modern & advanced computing facility. The objective of college has always been to be in the forefront of utilisation of Information Technology & to leverage the power of Information Technology in making, learning informative & effective. The entire network rest on four (Firewall, Internet, Mail, Attachments file & Print) servers .The students & faculty members can access the internet. Latest software is available to enable the students to work on data analysis, web technologies & software designing. At our library there exist a large number of Reference books, Journals & Educational Magazines that provide information about wide ranging subjects for students to understand the concepts in their curriculum.
The Degree College is permanently affiliated to the University of Mumbai and the Junior College is affiliated to Maharashtra State Secondary and Higher Secondary Board, Pune, Divisional Board Mumbai. Working towards its vision and mission statements, the college lays great emphasis on the all-round development of all its students. While academic excellence is encouraged and rewarded, a variety of extracurricular activities conducted by the institution enable the students to explore their capabilities and is a step towards the holistic development of the students’ personality and confidence. Students of both, Junior and Degree College, participate in academic and other activities of the college every year under the guidance of its caring and supportive staff.
The college is aware of its social responsibilities and caters to work in this direction by promoting amongst all students a culture of community services. The student-centric instruments of the college like House System into which every student of the college is assigned, helps the college in motivating and ensuring the participation of large number of students in all its community, cultural and sports endeavours. Tutor System helps the college in assessing the feedback of the students and the parents. The college strongly believes that one of the most important aspects of higher education is to create an individual who can contribute to national growth through self-learning.
At S.K.RAI COLLEGE we emphasise our commitment to the family and welcome parents to share their ideas and questions pertaining to the academic programme or the progress of their child. All required information pertaining to the progress of the learner is communicated through Parent-Teacher Conferences and Learner Review Assessments. Occasionally, the college invites guest speakers and conducts workshops to enable parents to enhance their skills both as parents and as home educators.
We believe that parents are very important stakeholders in the learners’ educational journey. To that effect, the school organises periodic meetings between the parents, coordinators and teachers so that parents are able to guide the learners at home with their research and home assignments.
The grievances of students are addressed through instruments like the Mentor System, Tutor System, etc. The students are also exposed to the world outside its curriculum by conduction of Industrial /Institutional Visits, Guest Lectures by eminent personalities and by the introduction of skill-based programs. Workshops are organized on regular basis to abreast our students and faculties with the latest knowledge and to enhance their employability skills. The progressive management, the enthusiastic faculty and students who are the ambassadors of the college strongly believe in the motto of the college and are working in a direction to take the institution towards accomplishing its mission and vision statements, reflecting the ideology of our founder.

Mr.Shivanand Rai the founder and Mrs. Renu Rai, are the pillars behind successful functioning of S.K Rai college of Science, Commerce and arts. They are visionary with outstanding capabilities of administration, development strategies & futuristic plans. They are endowed with magnificent traits of planning, organizing, motivating, asserting, objective fixing & monitoring of each & every aspects & the minute detail. They are the firm believer of Strict discipline & punctuality, Knowledge based society ,academic excellence, high standards & quality education with individual attention. By virtue of their untiring efforts, they nurtured the institution from time to time with clear concepts & perception.
Degree College Principal
Dr. Tapti Mukherjee (M.A (economics) Ph.d
Dr. Tapati Mukherjee started her career 42 years ago as Montosseri teacher teaching pre-primary school. Through her hard work and adept learning skills she climbed the ladder of higher education with grit and determination.Her immense exposure in her field led her to author the book ‘Economics Text Book’ by Chetna Publications for Std. XIIth. She didn’t stop here and continued to research her work and received outstanding research paper award from the University of Mumbai consecutively for three years (2015-16, 2016-17 & 2017-18).
In her thirst to research and learn about international methods of teaching Dr.Tapati Mukherjee attended the International Conference in Humanties, organized by LSME and presented a paper at the ‘House of Lords’ in London. In 2020, She won the best paper award for her work on “Migrant labourers in Mumbai’ organized by the LSME, London. Her relentless endevour in the area of education made her the winner of the most prestigious award ‘Shikshak Shree Samman Award’ for outstanding achievement in the area of Education which was conferred upon her by the Indo-Nepal convention on Sept 5th 2018 in New Delhi,

Having served as a Principal, Head of Departments and Chief conductor of Examinations for years, Ms. Sanju Kumari Yadav, a visionary young and ambitious woman assumed office as the Principal of S.K Rai junior College Of Arts, Science and Commerce on 12th June 2018. She is a renowned academician with strong subject expertise and has excellent abilities to deal with dynamic work culture.
She firmly believes that Hard work, dedication and perseverance are the most important traits in a person that lead to success .With this outlook she is gradually climbing the ladder of growth and success which in turn helping her consistently to add value into the system and develop herself like a pioneer and ultimately grow as a strong responsible women.
She exhibits exemplary leadership qualities for others to follow, including staff and students alike. She is organized and focused and deals with difficult situations effectively by connecting to many groups of people which includes teachers, students, parents and also proffering solutions to those situations and also sees that teachers gets comfortable and also feel motivated to improve continuously.
